The CPM has explained the reasons for the amendments, October 2000,

The CPM has explained the reasons for the amendments. In a unipolar world, the part wants to act effectively.

A party that has failed miserably in Indian politics cannot be expected in doing something in the global scenario. The communist ideology has been rejected by countries all over the world. What the CPM is displaying is a kind of psycho-phobia.

What do you think about the CPM’s preference of an imperialist Congress to a fascist BJP?

During Emergency, the Congress proved how fascist it could become. If the CPM still believes that the Congress can be something else other than fascist, then nothing can save the party. People of India have rejected the CPM as a political outfit and it does not have the right to call the BJP fascist.

If the Congress makes a studied move it can wean away even the NDA allies for the formation of the Third Front...

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Congress makes such abortive moves. It cannot live without power. Its leaders were trying to topple the Vajpayee government, they are trying even now and they will continue their efforts in the coming days also. I am sure that the people of India will not put their faith in important leaders and a directionless party.

“The Congress cannot live without power. Its leaders were trying to topple the Vajpayee government, they are trying even now and they will continue their efforts in the coming days also”

How can you claim that your allies will not go with the Congress especially in a situation when leaders like Mamata Bannerjee put in their resignation with a little provocation?

If something happens in the remote villages of the country our political pundits come up with the observation that it might topple the NDA government. The media always comes up with ficitious stories of the NDA government’s fall. Now these fictions have lost their charm and thrill.

Who is number one and who is number two in the BJP?

There are many vested interests in the country who still cannot digest the fact that the BJP is leading a coalition government at the Centre. Out of frustration these people are flaunting different theories. The “who is number one” question is a part of that conspiracy. First they propagated that the NDA was cracking for the allies were not happy with the BJP. Once that failed, they came up with the “Atal versus Advani” theory. Having failed in the BJP versus RSS theory also, they have taken out their trump card and the “who is number one” issue is that. This will also have the same fate.

Take the history of Indian politics. Not a single pair of leaders has ever worked so harmoniously as do Atal Behari Vajpayee and L K Advani. They have been working together for the last 50 years with a vision and a mission. Nobody except the media is bothered about the “who is number one” question.
